By stripping the intended use of an object away, it leads the viewer to then evaluate the purpose of this object. Through this thought process of looking at an object in a new light, the viewer then applies this process of identifying objects to defining characteristics of people. Through this work it become aware how consumerism can manipulate individuals into needing physical items to be part, if not all of their identity. As my work continues to expand and grow my goal is to explore how stereotypes that manipulate society as well as individuals and to really question why society thrives on being defined by superficial meaning through consumerism.
